Musings: This will be a short post because it’s very late here by Camino standards. We had a lovely, but long day! We had lots of sunshine today but still cooler temps that were great for walking long distances. We returned to the gorgeous Asturian coast (see pictures below), and I adopted two more wonderful Camino kids—Riley, who is a traveling nurse from Delaware and Andrea who is from Hungary, studied “American English” in university, lived 5 years in Australia, and has worked in IT and hospitality. They are both absolutely wonderful individuals, and we had the good fortune to walk with both of them for most of the day. We also walked with the delightful Jihong from San Francisco, and then had dinner with her, along with Sue and Cherie from Newfoundland, Canada. The Camino truly is a global village—or maybe a more apt phrase would be a global family.
Carol and I are looking forward to a bit of a shorter walk tomorrow—maybe only 12 miles or so.
Until then, here are the pictures from today:

A small shrine set up along the Way. Pilgrims can write in a book provided by Angelise (pictured above) and leave a stone honoring a person or an idea or anything else they would like to commemorate. Angelise’s mom set up the shrine along the Way and now Angelise maintains it.
I left a stone honoring my sister, Kim, who passed a little more than a year ago. I left it to honor her life well-lived despite the bad cards she was dealt in terms of her physical health. She always said you had to play the cards you were dealt. Well, no one could have played those cards better than she did. She made the utmost of the hand she was dealt. I was proud of her and loved her very much.

To be honest, I’m not sure who the photo credit goes to in this one—Andrea, Riley, Jihong?
